(rice) (orange) (tiger) (fish) (RTOF) (cage) COMMENTS

self critique comments

-is it genuinely about the Rice Tiger Orange Fish, or is it about a Proximity System

-where are the boundaries for "media is the message" (moving images, text, sound, performance, object, taste, etc)

-introducing dysfunction/interuption at every level is genuinely giving up possibility to comment. nice.
in stead the art occurs while its being experienced

-isolating all the elements in their purity, and then amassing, introducing proximity

-proximity without artist comment (vs)/(and) constrained empirical experiments

-i don't make enough videos vs. capturing the pure clean (long) confident shots

-don't try too hard to be clever

-xandra's (the weatherspoon's) memory show:
i like Edward Arceneaux's "Blocking out the Sun" because of the unavoidable audience interaction, its simplicity subtlety, and reference to a larger world.
Scott Lyall's "the little contemporaries" (the installation) quickly grows on me. it is difficult and initially opaque. it introduces dysfunction at every level.
the whole show is wonderful

-everything is very light and airy. there is no real stance or constraint

-there is not enough time being invested to get the right video and audio
